Historic England-Housing and Heritage campaign

Let’s not forget

The Challenge

Historic England commissioned this project to communicate a compelling but data-heavy argument — that repairing and reusing historic buildings could deliver up to 670,000 new homes while supporting net-zero goals. Before a single frame of animation was produced, the design challenge was primarily a graphic one:

Developing a visual language that could hold together archival photography, contemporary imagery, and layered typographic storytelling in a cohesive collage style. Multiple layout and compositional approaches were explored and presented to the client, balancing text hierarchy, image density, and tonal contrast to ensure the content remained clear and engaging across a wide range of source material spanning generations.

The final motion piece was then adapted into a series of social media posts. This project reflects my approach to design-led communication: starting with a strong visual framework before considering how it moves, and always asking how the work will live across different formats and audiences.

9x16 socials

Each frame of the animation was designed as a standalone graphic composition, allowing the campaign to be directly adapted into a series of social media posts with no additional production required.
